TITLE: Specialist – Speech Language Pathologist
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide direct or indirect services to affect positive change in the communication behavior of pupils with speech and/or language impairment. Duties include diagnostic, therapeutic and consultative services of children with various speech and language impairments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Arizona Department of Education Speech Language Pathologist certification
- Master Degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CFY)
- Arizona Department of Health Services State Speech Language Pathology License
- Ability to assess needs, develop and implement the IEP, and evaluate outcomes in specialty
- Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day as assigned
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct speech and language evaluations of referred students, interpret results to parents and teachers and write appropriate recommendations and reports.
- Develop, implement and monitor IEP’s for students eligible for special education.
- Participate in school meetings and conferences regarding students with special needs.
- Provide consultation to classroom teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Register with Medicaid as a provider; maintain Medicaid records.
- Participate as a member of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET).
- Act as case manager for designated special education students.
- Participate in and lead professional development in-services.
- Review and maintain speech language files and related paperwork.
- Attend monthly speech language meetings.
- Validate outside diagnostic evaluations and program recommendations.
- Plan, conduct and or participate in in-service activities in the area of speech and language therapy.
- May be required to participate in student’s meetings which occur beyond the staff’s work assignment schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
