TITLE:   Account Specialist Senior 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Implement and maintain for the District an accurate and efficient computerized accounting system to ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates as related to district and student transportation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
  2. Three (3) years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferably in a school environment (preferred)
  3. State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
  4. Valid Arizona Driver’s License

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Input purchase orders and process invoices
  • Responsible for AHCCCS-eligible client record keeping and reporting.
  • Responsible for department budget tracking.
  • Support other department positions, e.g. filling in as dispatch, FIT driver and bus assistant
  • Support  the Director, the Supervisor and all district administration on matters related to student transportation.
  • Respond to phone calls that may include parent complaints, bus stop complaints, or general questions, and direct them to the appropriate person when necessary.
  • Perform general office duties such as copy, create and maintain department calendars, and input employee data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

 

  • Knowledge of Federal, State and District accounting and reporting requirements for assigned area
  • Knowledge of accounting methods practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of record keeping/file maintenance practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of customer service/public relations practices and procedures 
  • Skill prioritizing, scheduling, assigning and reviewing work
  • Skill solving problems independently
  • Skill utilizing automated systems to maintain databases and generate reports
  • Skill accurately inputting and retrieving information from computer databases
  • Skill utilizing effective verbal and written communication in the preparation of reports and records
  • Skill implementing policies and procedures related to area of assignment
  • Skill utilizing customer service techniques in responding to inquiries and complaints
  • Skill establishing and maintain effective working relationships

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

General Office environment

May need to drive to other sites to complete work assignments

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

 

Position may require climbing, stooping, standing, walking, keyboarding, talking, listening, eyestrain and repetitive motions

May be required to travel to in and out-of-district sites

May require lifting and carrying materials and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds

 

WORK YEAR: 12 months
